Where to Eat in Clearwater, FL

If you have been following my blog, you know that I love to find out where to eat in Clearwater, FL. We moved to Florida almost five months ago, coming from MN. Driving the streets in Clearwater, food is always on my mind. Within every two blocks of city living, there’s at least one place to dine-in or carry-out… Imagine my happiness smelling aromas of food on the grill or seeing a new space with a sign that reads COMING SOON!

That’s what happened driving East on Gulf to Bay by Hwy 19. Behold, a new restaurant was coming soon! Let’s add NEWK’S EATERY as another place that I have to try on my hunt for where to eat in Clearwater, FL.

I missed the grand opening *insert disappointed face here*.

“Welcome our new Chamber member Newk’s Eatery with their first location in Pinellas County.  Fresh made soups and pizza, deluxe salads with their made from scratch dressings and fresh classic sandwiches served on a variety of breads. Come and enjoy sampling provided at the event.” – Clearwater’s Regional Chambers Website

See, sounds amazing right? Of course I made my way to Newk’s Eatery; I ordered take-out.

There’s a lot going on when you enter this place. The decor is simply gorgeous and inviting.

Eating outdoors is also an option.

Once you’re inside, you’re greeted by a host asking if you have visited the restaurant before. Your answer determines where you go next… If you’ve been there before, you’re free to pass and do your own thing. If not, you are walked through how and where to order, what menus to look at (the large one on the wall, or the take-out menus to see the words up close and personal), and then you may choose your table to cherish every bite of your made-fresh-to-order meal.

If you wish to get something quick, there’s a Grab-n-Go section with sandwiches, salads, and soups already in to-go containers. So go past the line and head over to your right, you’ll see the large variety of options ready to be your hunger quencher for the day.

This is where all of the magic happens. Some of the best food is prepared behind that glass.

I wanted a good variety of options to try, so here’s what I ordered:

The Newk’s Q (with the Bacon Mac n Cheese) – All of the descriptions are from their online menu:

Sliced flame-grilled chicken, thick-cut bacon, Ammerländer Swiss cheese and our signature white BBQ sauce. Served on Newk’s famous French Parisian bread. All sandwiches served with a side of your choice:

  • Cole slaw, “Tippah County” caviar, pasta salad, fresh fruit or chips by the bag.
  • Substitute a cup of soup or half Caesar or half Simply salad.
  • Substitute Five Cheese Mac & Cheese or Pimiento with Bacon Mac & Cheese.

The Delux Pizza:

Campioni pepperoni, mortadella, smoked ham, ripe Roma tomatoes, red and yellow bell peppers, steak-cut portabella mushrooms, imported kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, house-shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses over tomato sauce.

Every pizza comes on its own crispy, golden, 10-inch crust made of hand-rolled dough. We brush the dough with garlic-infused olive oil to make it extra crispy.

A Caesar Side Salad:

Crisp romaine fillets, imported Parmesan cheese, house-made croutons and anchovy-free Caesar dressing.

Add grilled chicken breast or steak.
Add grilled salmon or broiled shrimp.

There’s low calorie options on the menu as well.

I mentioned that I ordered this meal to go… The mouth-watering smells coming from the bag in the back seat of my car almost lead me to pull over and “sample” the food prior to getting home.

I couldn’t wait any longer. I rushed through the doors, washed my hands and my husband and I cherished every fork-full of fresh and tasty vittles.

If you crave fresh produce and flavors on your pizza, you must try this!

The fresh veggies on the pizza had a grilled flavor with just the right seasonings. Paired with their hand-rolled dough… I would have been satisfied with that being my last meal ever.

I didn’t get a picture of the Newk’s Q, but it was incredible with their signature white BBQ sauce. The bread that is made at Newk’s… It’s so soft and warm on the inside, with a hard shell on the outside. Take that first bite and you’ll experience one of the best breads ever made.
